Extra points for doing it during the day and reading a newspaper while doing it.

thats humorous.
my roommate and i were having a discussion about shitting on bibles last night.
poop.
I have thought about putting pics of big black dudes humping away on blonde teen girls (of age) in the hymnals at various churches.
The idea of the civil disorder is not to shock people (which is way too easy) but to awaken them to something greater than themselves. Desecrating churches just lacks panache. Think harder!

What about reading the person's mail while doing it? Or is that just going too far?

I went into a BnN bookstore went to the sex section, found game that was basically you draw the card and do whatever sexual thing is depicted with your partner, and then i went to the bible section. I placed a single card face up (they had little stick images in addition to text) on the first page of genesis chapter 5
"1 This is the written account of Adam's line.
When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. 2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man. [ac] "
3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. 4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. 5 Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died....." it's the first of the bible's long lists of baby making.
So does that have enough panache? I seriously doubt any christians opening one of those 50 bibles will get the message that there is ton's of sex in the bible and maybe we shouldn't have kids pretend that opposite sex is an alien race until puberty, but I can walk out of the store with my sense of meaning and a smirk.
Could be there's a shortage of panache.
think we could buy that stuff in bulk?

I think that has substantive panache. I approve.
I just hate it when people decide it would be fun to de-pants senior citizens who are tryin gto cross the street and then yell "Woo! Project Mayhem!"
indeed, the church is often picked on, but really i approve of most of christian philosophy because i think it works out to be a great way to live. it's only when the majority of modern christians use the bible to support their narrow minded cultural, and political/econamic views. the worst is when christians cite the old testament against homosexuality. That whole "golden rule" thing was supposed to be a new coventant to honor both god and your fellow man. Several of Jesus's parables place fault on tired old testament laws (his response when rebuked for healing on the sabbath, and the good samartin(sp?) just a few examples)
So attacking christians in general annoys me, for one they feed off of a sense of being in the minority and fighting off the non-believers, and for another I know many a christian who really does approach what i think of as the ideal of christian living, it is not something to be rebuked, but to be saught after. I just wish i had less skepticism. As for snotty atheists, being an atheist because it's cool is just as bad as being a Christian because you've never questioned your faith. An unexamined life is not worth living, and until you have looked within and found your true self you have no right to be mocking anyone's faith (well maybe scientology ;-P) even mocking flimsy christians who are only religious because their parents were won't solve anything. They have to asked the questions themselves. the best anyone can do to help anyone else figure out any of the bigger questions is to sit down and have a polite conversation, and even that isn't helping toooo much.
