Who writes well about Chuck (apart from Chuck)?

So, tell me: have you ever read something published about one of Chuck's books  -  a review, an essay - and thought, yes, that's interesting, I didn't think of that OR that's total nonsense, this person has it all wrong. What's the best and worst writing about CP's work - or is it all unnecessary?

Hey pup, personally I rarely read reviews at all. I like to read interviews to aquaint myself with an author. I find reviews may taint my expectations. But good luck with your question. There might be people with strong opinions on that subject.

Thanks, Mirka - that raises an interesting (to me) sub-question: do Chuck's fans read reviews of his work? Or do we prefer to come to his work clean, without expectations? I'd find it hard to resist reading any article on CP, be it interview, review, whatever.

So many people have written about Fight Club in particular, it's amazing - given that (as another Culter posted here) he receives so little acclaim from the establishment - not proper literature, doncha no.

Well, there was a huge outcry when Salon  published a scathing and unbalanced review of   Diary, so I do believe there are fans that read reviews. Or read them if they are brought to their attention. :)  (You may have to watch a couple of minutes of ads to get to the reveiw)

Also, there is a scholarly collection of essays about Fight Club published  this year so maybe he is starting to get that establishment recognition. Here:

You Do Not Talk About Fight Club: I Am Jack's Completely Unauthorized Essay Collection

By the way, have you checked out our  interview and review archives on the site? Go to AUTHOR on the main navigation bar> MEDIA. If you haven't been there yet, you will be in heaven.. :)

Hey, thanks for the link to the Fight Club book - I've pre-ordered it - looks interesting. I'll check out the archive, too - I haven't explored that enough.

Actually, though, I think the focus on Fight Club means that much of the other work gets neglected. There was a special issue of a journal called Sirrings Still: http://www.stirrings-still.org/ss22.pdf in case you missed it. Most of the essays in there are on Fight Club - maybe some will appear in this new book. Some serious work on the other novels - more in-depth than reviews - is needed, I think.

There's another collection of essays coming out next year, too.
