Choke was alright but man that movie was bad Unsure

Also, I would like this person to come back so that I may, to his/her face, call them a moron based upon ranking a book based upon the movie based upon the book.

"You, Sir or Madam, are a moron."

I went into reading Snuff thinking that I was going to hate it. I thought, during the pre-release build up, Chuck seemed to push shocking for the sake of being shocking (those awful youtube videos). But, I'm a fan, so I bought the book, read it, and surprisingly enjoyed it (Around here, i know I'm in the minority).

On that same note, Pygmy sounded brilliant before it came out and that, in my opinion, was awful. The only reason I finished that book is because Chuck wrote it.

I've mentioned a couple of times around here that I've been listening to books on CD. So far, I've listened to Fight Club and Invisible Monsters. It's amazing how much better those books are compared to his recent ones. I give him a lot of credit for trying new things and exploring different styles... but it's been a while since I've been excited/overwhelmed by his writing

Invisible Monsters is my favourite. I read a pirated copy then bought the real book when I had the chance. Only regret is that it has the paperback cover, not the 'classic' one.

Neither of those are the "classic" cover, btw.

Ohh, I have the top one in paperback.

And I think Tuffy's talking about this one.

I said 'classic' as in the one people get on their skin/walls/whatever all the time. The most common image that pops to your mind when you say Invisible Monsters.
I also hate hardcovers.

Yes, the original paperback, not the trendy jump-on-the-bandwagon-get-the-girl-tattoo reissue.

There is no hardcover.

I really liked snuff, I don't think it was a brilliant book with cutting edge ideas that changed my perception of life and love or anything, but my girlfriend lent it to me one day, and I just sat down and read it all in one sitting. I think its one of those stories that I feel like didn't really have a point, but it was told well, so I enjoyed hearing it, you know what I mean?

On another note, alot of y'all mentioned listening to his books, and I've never listened to a book with any amour of success, I don't know if its the readers voice or what, but I always just drift off and miss chunks, then I have to rewind it. How do you guys like audiobooks? As in should I give them another try?

I love listening to audiobooks on long car journeys. The downside is that they're expensive and you often don't get a chance to sample the audiobook reader's voice. If the person reading the book has a weird accent, I have a tendency to mentally switch off.

The key is to get them at the library and burn the tracks to your mp3 player. Easy peasy and free.

I just saw this thread and considered making this same exact joke. Instead I skimmed back a few pages, only to see that I had already done so nearly four years earlier. I like to think that I've changed considerably since 2008, but perhaps not.

Interesting. Sometimes I see posts I made a few weeks earlier and think, "Who's this asshole?"

It's been a few years since I posted my last rankings list and I thought I'd better give it an update. 1st and 2nd place have not changed; 10, 11 and 12 could realistically be lumped together as "last place". Invisible Monsters moved up a bunch of spots. First book I read was Lullaby.

1. Choke
2. Survivor
3. Invisible Monsters/Invisible Monsters Remix
4. Fight Club
5. Lullaby
6. Damned
7. Diary
8. Rant
9. Pygmy
10. Haunted
11. Snuff
12. Tell-All
