True or False: Chuck's books
I understand that Chuck's books are fiction but I'm just curious if any of the things written in his book are true. Like the first thing that always stands out, "Life insurance pays off triple if you die on a business trip." There's various other quotes in his books that I thought could potentially be true but I can't seem to remember them. Also how Tyler always names off ways to make dynamite. Can anyone else recall things that they think could potentially be true.
The Pearl Diving story in Haunted had my anus puckering all through class.
"Society exists only as a mental concept; in the real world there are only individuals." --Oscar Wilde
I assumed the life-insurance bit was a little joke about tax-evasion. However, Chuck's said himself a lot of the stuff in his books are true, and even if he's lying, they're true enough to think about. There's nothing really supernatural in any of them, there's no fire shooting from people's hands, prophecies can be lies and for all we know Misty Wilmont could have just painted a load of fucking squiggles. Chuck's charm isn't so much about the context itself but how he relates us to it and makes something funny out of these desperate situations. I mean shit, there's not much funny about being worshipped as the new jesus and having your agent stuff you full of drugs and torturing excersize routines - but Chuck makes it funny, even if it is in a cheeky mock-profound kind of way.
yeah dude chuck always digs really deep on the research for his books, most of those facts are true.
I know they changed the napalm recipe in Fight Club so goofballs wouldn't be out there blowing themselves up. But he did originally have a working recipe for the stuff in there.
hey.. they didnt change the book. just changed the wording in the movie because the bomb squad experts who were advising got real, real nervous.

um. okay, bad idea. the movie script and the paperback novel differ too much, but it did jar the memory of where i heard it. the fight club dvd, the version with chuck's commentary. ill rewatch it late tonight and see exactly what it said.

I would think its possible that the recipe in the first edition differs from that of later editions.

most of the stuff in chucks books are based off fact. like most of the cleaning tips in Survivor actually work and the three stories in Guts are true. as for the life insurance tidbit, I wouldnt know.
