Shot Dunyan= Green Taylor Simms
Is it possible that Shot Dunyan seeded the Green Taylor Simms that first went back in time? We know that Simms only adopted that name some time after having travelled back in time.
Echo Lawrence: Whether she believed it or not, he raped her, that girl had a child she named Irene, and the man, now calling himself Green Taylor Simms, disappeared for another thirteen years.
Green Taylor Simms askes after he goes back in time if anyone has invented boosted peak technology yet, and in the final chapted Echo Lawrence speculates that Shot Dunyan would be involved with this if he time travelled.
It would also explain why Shot's egg said Green Taylor Simms on it.
And... Shot Dunyan disappears in the middle of a car crash, according to the piece at the end of the book.
It's been too long since i've read it but I always got the impression Shot was his own unique character. That's to say not one of the Simms/rant/ his dad whatever his name was. That Shot didn't know anything about the time travelling stuff till Simms and Rant clued him in.
There was a time there I thought Shot might have been Bodie, I don't remember why I thought so but that I did give up on that. and when you think of it the two of them are probably around the same age so it wouldn't fit anyways.
Ech Lawrence: Relax, if Shot Dunyan manages to transplant himself into the past, the rest of us will wake to the new reality that he's become the father of boosted peak technology...That's if he remembers enough about the fucking scciencce. It's one thing to be an auteur, but it's another to birth the entire art form.
Shot Dunyan: Rant told me Green Taylor Simms had somehow fallen into the past some sixty years. After riding in the backseat of his own grandmother Hattie Shelby,, Simms said he fells great. Nights, he only needed two hours sleep. Like some kind of superman.....He asked someone " Has boosted peak technology been invented yet?" When they shrugged, it didn't matter. He really really wished he'd paid more attention in science.
Which is fairly indicative. Plus, Shot's idea for his degree of boosting people to experience themselves and enchance the experience is pretty much what Simms goes on to do with his family.
Also, at the end, Bodie Carlyle talks about a theory that a pack of dogs control the world, and in the scene where Echo & co observe Bodie and Irene Casey together, it is implied that Bodie has 'morphed' from the wild dog pack. Not sure how this ties in, possibly lnked to Shot's idea that Echo and Rant are living as a couple somewhere in time and they are Irene and Bodie. This is supported by the end piece stating that Bodie and irene both work at the Middleton tooth museum. Not quite sure how it happened though...
