I am famished for more Palahniukesk reading. I know nothing will be like his writing, but I need something similarly fascinating. I've read Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, Survivor, Rant, Haunted, Choke, And I just ordered Diary and Lullaby, so I should be through those soon. So here I'm asking for two things, a comparison of snuff to some of those others, and, more importantly suggestions of authors or books that are equally interesting, addicting, and just plain good. Please describe any suggestions, Your help is very appreciated.

remember me,

seems like most new chuck fans run through chuck's work in a week or two. if the same happens to you, no worries. youve come to the right place.

no worries i say !!

order clevenger's The Contortionists' Handbook
the book chuck said was the best he'd read in easily five years, and most of his fans love the handbook. it's a fantastic read and i'll provide a link at the bottom of this post.

also, will christopher baer is another fantastic writer. you should at least read his first book: Kiss Me, Judas

Cormac Mccarthy is another fav here, particularly the following:
All The Pretty Horse
The Road
Outter Dark
Suttree
No Country For Old Men

denis johnson's Jesus' Son, chuck read that three hundred times before he wrote lullaby is six weeks

Geek Love by katherine dunn

chelsea cain's Heart Sick--chuck said chelsea gives us the most compelling serial killer since hannibal

and The 25th Hour is a must read for chuck fans, as is Less Than Zero and American Psycho by bret easton ellis

one of my personal favorites is Ask The Dust by john fante

here, i'll link the page here at the cult with chuck's personal recommendations:

http://astore.amazon.com/officchuckpalaha?_encoding=UTF8&node=29

and welcome to the cult

Thanks very much, let me know anything else you think of, and I've actually been reading chuck since 04 or 05, it just took me a while to get everything, I drift back and forth between comics and novels, and sometime I spend to much time on one or the other. Thanks again.

ps.. House of Leaves (HoL for short) is pretty much a must read, as is Ice at the Bottom of the World--and also Charity--by mark richard (pronounced rih-shard). In the Cut by susanna moore, Demon Theory by stephen graham jones. karen novak's 5 Mile House. Black Box by nick walker and Wise Blood by flannery oconnor. oh, and another absolute must is Bright Lights, Big City by jay mcinerney....

I agree, Geek Love is excellent. It took a few Culties' suggestions to get me to read it, but it was great.

Some people think this book is ridiculous, and it's already been suggested, but I completely lost myself in House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski. This fucking book drove me insane.... which was the whole point. It's great. I somehow even convinced the Chair of the English department at my university to read it and he loved it.

Check out House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. It is not written in the same style but it is definitely a unique read. I am sure that it is nothing like you have ever read.
