tattoo

I love explaining it to people who haven't read the book.
After I got it, I realized that a hair dresser at the salon that I go to has it in the same spot. It's the coolest thing, being able to quickly identify other Chuck fans and connect with them. I've never been to one of his book tours, but I just bought my ticket to the New York event for Tell-All and I can't wait to meet more people with Chuck-inspired ink.
Exactly. Well said.
so you have an upside down old lady inked into your arm.. that's cool

hey, it's a cool tat. hope you have fun at the event. i'm sure you will, chuck makes for some dynamite company. his readings are known for the interesting and the weird haha

It is a pretty tattoo. Where did this design come from originally? It's been seen on here a few times and it's a good one, I think.
the second issue of invisible monsters

Thanks! I've definitely had people ask "Why did you get the old woman/young woman optical illusion on your arm? And why is there a pink splatter on it?" Hah.
And yes, I am very excited to see what he's like in person and meet more fans and some members of the cult!
I have an ugly cover, I forget what it is though.

He's really sweet in person, lovely to everyone.
Can you explain how to look at it to see the old woman? All I see is a pretty one.
turn your monitor upside down.
I didn't see it for ages but now I do! That's pretty cool!!!!!!!
EDIT: It looks more like a sad clown than an old lady though. My mind: blown. Such things I have seen.
Wow. ANOTHER one!!! Good for you! You now have the same tattoo as about 50 other people on this site.....ugg. Why not put some creative thought process into these tatts guys? Seriously why do you want the EXACT same tattoo as so many other people? I've got a Fight Club tatt and yeah, they're hundreds of those it seems, but mine is 100% unique. It took a year of thought and debate before I came up with it. It's like picking out flash in a tattoo shop and having your artist copy it exactly, like Winnie the Pooh or some shit.
P.s Most of the people I've seen with this tattoo are women
Christopher Richard Douglas Addison
I think that is a woman.
Your own creative thought led you to that hideous burn/boil thing all up your arm. You have no right to shit on anybody's tattoos, you goon.
...yes it is a girl, so that's my bad....
My tatt rules, that pic only does it half justice anyway...
and I'm not shitting on the tattoo per say,it's done well, just the fact that it's the most boring cliche Chuck related art and that it's been done by everybody
I'm sure she appreciates the defense though
Christopher Richard Douglas Addison
First of all, I like both of our tattoos, if I saw yours in person and I didn't know you I'd definitely comment on it.
Invisible Monsters is my favorite book by Chuck so I'm fine with other people having it. I understand your point about it being cliche, I hold that in high regard when I get inked usually, but in this case it's a symbol that truly means something to me because it represents the themes of the story. I didn't just get it for the sake of having a tattoo in honor of Chuck. That's like getting lyrics from a band's song just because you like the band, not the meaning of the words. It's stupid. And I feel bad for anyone who has gotten the symbol for that reason.
Sometimes getting something other people have can be the point of getting a tattoo. A subculture. No, I'm not referring to tribal.
douche

Precisely!
douche
Love Star Ship troopers!! Death from Above!
and about your tattoo, I guess I was a bit of a goon earlier and for that I am sorry!1! I was being just the kind of dick hole I hate on here, a lot of people don't get/like my tattoo so what can I say? at least it's Palahniuk baby....
maybe it's just me, but shouldn't the spell check here on the Cult recognize Palahniuk?
Christopher Richard Douglas Addison
The spell check gnome lives in your browser, not on the Cult. Treat him well.
Gnome it doesn't.

Firstly, it's per se.
Secondly, she may have the "most boring cliché Chuck related art" but you have quoted the most clichéd Chuck Palahniuk book, you putz.
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember... that is the illusion.

That's almost as bad as when MonkeyMike hit me when I wrote "At Nauseam rather than Ad Nauseam". Still, I was typing fast.
douche
Perhaps i quoted the most cliched book, but as far as the Fight Club quotes I generally see tattooed on people go, I'm still contented by my choice and feel it boats originality. Certainly better than "you are not your job, you are not your blah blah blah" or "you are not a beautiful or unique snowflake" am I right?
I also think part of putting your tatts on her is for healthy criticism and debate, otherwise why post it in a forum?
Lastly, are they handing out awards for fucking spell check on here? Per say. per se...it's not a bloody newspaper Kerplunk get bent dude

You're an Imbecile. Yes, spelling and grammar is important. Especially on an author's website where you discuss your love of literature. How would you like it if the Tattooist mispelt Dick on your blistery tattoo.
Get off your high-horse and stop ripping shreds off everyone that gets a fucking tattoo that isn't as "cool" as yours. And while you're at it, go back to fucking school, Douche.
I like you, Matt.

Imbecile hmmm? Yup you're a winner...Hurling insults through a forum at someone you don't even know...They're opinions man. Posts, on a discussion forum. Why are you taking this shit so personally anyway it's not even about you...or anyone really. How can anyone accurately ascertain an idea of what people are really like through some bullshit internet post? Yeah, alliteration, too bad I need to go to school and could have no idea what that means eh? As for repping my tattoo it's because i like it and I know I'll never see another one like it, and that makes me happy. Like it, don't like it. That's life who cares. I only defended the fact that it's original, and I haven't ripped on anyone's tattoo on here because it wasn't "cool" like mine. All i said was 'wow, another old lady/princess face, couldn't you be more original?' and everyone gets in a hump about it... I mean shit tell me you don't agree or don't like what i say, that's great! I'll never understand however why the insults and personal attacks seem to come along with that? Someone has one fucking opinion and all of a sudden he's a imbecile, douche, goon, etc....lighten up
Christopher Richard Douglas Addison
Calling people "idiots" because of their bad grammar and other stupidities is one of my favorite pastimes.

Please refer back to my other post for my answer to this, as i would only be repeating myself.
I like you, too, Steve. And it's great to see you back.
What a witty response.......you sure got me

I had a whole spiel typed out about what an irritating twat you are, but what's the point in arguing with someone who has the mental capacity of a small child?
What I have shown you is reality. What you remember... that is the illusion.
what if chuck palahniuk turns out to be a child molester with a gaggle of child slaves in a secret bunker like that austrian guy and he tortures them and makes them write his books while he sits naked in a bath of tapioca pudding? and you guys have his work all scratched into your arms. forever.
Some folks get their favorite band's logo tattooed. This is all fine and dandy until your favorite band sells out/becomes popular/starts to really really suck.

This is why we can't have nice things.
So you never got that Winger tattoo covered up then?
He just added an S to the front and started living a different lifestyle... or possibly just living as he had been.

Heyo.
This is why we can't have nice things.

Yeah? Yeah?
This is why we can't have nice things.
hahaha!
Awesome!

Yeah you sure got me pegged buddy. I just like to look at the pictures in Chuck's books and pretend I know how to read. Please don't judge me.
Christopher Richard Douglas Addison
with this thread having over 40 posts I was hoping for something more exciting. I shoulda known.
Sammich anyone?
In fairness, you did judge first.
Now, someone be original and get this one:

This is why we can't have nice things.
Hmmm. Does anyone not have any tattoos?
I don't.
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
We've all seen the bulldog on your ass, HC.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Ha. Ploy to bump the dress down thread to prove otherwise, I'm sure...
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
Not at all. Here is the proof.
Cropped, rotated, & enlarged.

This is why we can't have nice things.
My ass looks strangely like a blurry arm....
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."
Yeah, a minute and a half was about all I cared to spend on editing. The gag was DOA already, so...
This is why we can't have nice things.
at least you can admit your joke was terrible...
"...you want to be truly unselfish? Love someone or die for someone. Those are the only good deeds you can perform without any hope of personal gain."

Anyone who knows Chuck will have some kind of connection. Doesn't matter who the two people are they will bond over Chuck.
