(yes that is a camera strap get over it)
#2: This one requires some explanation. I have an ongoing project where I do a collage for each month of a calendar. This is the picture for May. I was about 2/3 of the way through Diary at the end of April so I did a quick Diary-inspired collage. Had I finished the book before starting the collage, I'm sure it would have been completely different.. quite disappointing. Anyways, the Lullaby bird is there because for the next thing that you'll see, I was making a patch shaped like the bird with 'birds ate my face' written on it.... you'll understand later.
The funny part is, I didn't even realize how much the book was influencing me. I visualised the layout in my head and I was looking for 2 patterns for the side part, and I picked 2 seemingly random ones from my collage materials folder. Only when I was finished I realized that I had covered it in pink and yellow roses, and Diary is yellow with red roses.

And I thought this was funny too.. the only things written on the calender are Rant's release date and the day that Chuck is coming to Toronto.

#3.. my fait accompli... the Survivor book bag. This took a crapload of work to finish but I think it was so, so worth it. My idea was to sew on a plain patch on the side, and bring a fabric marker to Chuck's reading and have him sign it. It was originally supposed to have something from all of his books, but I decided to just go with my favourite, and pick 1 quote that was really meaningful to me. The airplanes are iron-on patches, and it was my first ever attempt at using iron-ons (I'm a stencil type gal). All the stitching other than the quote is done in cornflower blue thread, cause I'm a dork like that. In case you can't read it for some reason, it says "what we call chaos is just patterns we haven't recognized." I've used it as a school bag/purse for a week now & I've gotten a lot of compliments.

Would it seem weird/creepy if I follow through on the whole signing-the-bag idea? I think he'd probably think it was cool, but I dunno...
Comments?
Cool. I'm sure he won't be weirded out by signing this stuff.
One time some friends and I went to see the poet Billy Collins. We stopped at one of those Halloween outlet stores and I bought a genie lamp for him to sign. He said he enjoyed it. He signs books all the time, but never a genie lamp. Plus, it's a better keepsake.
Just remember to bring a marker that will show up well on the fabric for him to use.
I like all of this! Make more, sell on ebay, dooo it.
whoa, that stuff is really cool. i like the bag alot
I like them anyway, and I'm probably the most likely person on these forums to call you a cunt. I'm sure Chuck would love signing them.
Thanks everyone. I'm definetly gonna go through with my plan.. fuck it, I've come this far and I found the perfect chance.
Today I started thinking about a Choke makeup bag and I'm tempted to do it.. this happens whenever I start (re)reading his books.
Update: The reading was great. I bought some awesome books across the street before it was time to wait in line, so book-wise, it was probably the best day ever.. heh. Oh yeah.. the side pockets have stripey trim now too.

I like the Beatles and Pink Floyd pins on the Survivor bag. I'll take 40 dozen thank you very much.
These are awesome. I would love to see Invisible Monster's inspired things. I'd buy a messenger bag or something...
