STRAND Signing
Who's attending? Let's discuss a bit. I'll be there, along with some fellow fans but we're wanting to start some dialogue to get ourselves geared up for the event.
What time are you guys getting there?
Hmmm...I dunno yet. I posted another reply on another thread about arrival times and have yet to hear back. My roommate and I were looking at at least an hour before the start of the ticket give-outs (so we'd arrive at 11:30). What about you?
my train leaves from NJ at 10, so ill be in the city at 1045, then i plan on walking right to the book store and waiting.
Ah very cool. Yea I imagine I'll be in that area around 11ish so I'm sure I'll get in line early, as I expect things to be a little hectic. You bringing books?
It's only 150 people for this thing, so I doubt you'd need to get there that early.
Yeah, that's still a lot of folks but not nearly the 400-600 that usually show up.
I'd think an hour early would be plenty of time.
Anyways, have fun, bring back lots of stories and pictures.
Ah yes will do. I have my camera and polaroids all ready to go. I work at Strand (hah!) so I'll probably hang out before and after as well.
Tell Chuck I said "Hi!"
i heard that u have to purchase the books from strand to get them signed?
I haven't heard details. Best bet is to call them direct and ask to speak with "Events" and you should be able to find out all the details that way.
Yea i was going to get there at around 11 ish too.
Cool look for my roommate and I. Punk rock chicks
You got it.
i heard that u have to purchase the books from strand to get them signed?
I think you have to have bought a ticket, which covers the price of a copy of Rant. But it's already sold out so if you haven't gotten a ticket yet you may be SOL.
I think Monk was meaning books other than Rant. I am speaking with the PR now to find out some details about getting books in, purchasing the books there, and any other details. Stay tuned.
The way I read it, Rant was included in the ticket price and you were allowed up to 4 books.
Yeah me too, but apparently there's all this miscommunication. Strand email says the books have to be "purchased at Strand". This site says up to four books. I am pretty pissed, and I freakin' work there! So I am talking with PR now to get the scoop, and will keep you posted. If it turns out they try and make us buy the books there or prove with receipts, I think we should really really push the issue considering we're paying to get in. We could fight it!
Alas my friends, the news is here. I just got off the phone with STRAND's PR director (a fabulous woman, though not always under the direction of fabulous people) and here is what she had to say regarding the confusion about books and tomorrow's event with Chuck.
"There seems to have been some miscommunication between STRAND and the fansite. Ticket holders were sent an email regarding tomorrow's procedures and the email states that Chuck will sign up to four titles -- purchased at Strand. The fansite left this part off.
We’re going to ask fans to check their bags, as we always do with people coming for events. And, Strand Policy is that no one can bring non-Strand books into the store. I don’t want riots…but we are still a store, hoping to sell stock and Chuck understands that, though I’m sure he’d sign anything a fan handed him.
Hope this helps…anything you can do to help prevent seriously angry people tomorrow would be incredibly appreciated.
THANK YOU! "
So there you have it. I have a few ideas and suggestions of my own for decreasing any hassles tomorrow, so if you'd like, send me a private message and we can dialogue about it there. Stay tuned.

Ill be there.
