I have more from his visit and will post it when I get around to it.

Enjoy.

Hey fd, thanks for the reminder of that night. I was there. Somewhere in here I think I linked up photos from that event, including the mad gorilla that was running around, pranking with everybody toward the later part of the evening. Nice to hear Chuck's reading of Mr. Elegant again, and from that very night, too, but I'm curious, why'd it take you eight months to up that audio and join the site? anyway, welcome to the Cult.

I am a fan of Chuck's work, but I have been busy working on my own novel and other projects and just never found the time to post the audio. No real answer to why I am just now joining. I have been to this site several times, just not as a member.

I also met Kurt Vonnegut just before that Chuck reading and recorded that as well. Maybe one of these days I will get around to posting that too.

Sounds like a reasonable answer to me. I've easily written a book's worth of forum posts around this place. No royalties from that, but it pays certain dividends to be well-invested in a good forum community.

Four years ago, I thought people who spent as much time online as I do now were crazy fringe dwellers who had no life, just killing the hours talking to people they'd never meet and never even know that much about. Dumb teenagers and pedophiles posing as dumb teenagers: that was my total picture of the net. Now, I'm thrilled to realize that part makes up only about half of it!! (We also have smart teenagers and pedophiles posing as themselves.)

Now, I've become like the king of the fringe dwellers, I suppose. Well, Arch Duke, maybe. Okay, nephew to the Prince's nemesis, on somebody's sister's cousin's side, twice removed. But I've made a mini-career of it by running the writer's workshop here, and I've made some great connections. I've also spent some decent personal time with people met through this website, in places as diverse as a remote campground in Indiana to a bar in midtown Manhatten.

I hope you'll enjoy your stay with us. Don't get locked into a website to the detriment of finishing a novel, ever, but we make an excellent substitute for Family Guy.

You'll discover if you get hooked on this particular site that the time people spend here is no gauge at all of rabid Palahniuk fandom. The prolific posters and long-term members generally respect the man and enjoy his work, but not to some glassy-eyed freak degree. The Cult is its own multi-faceted and many-tentacled beast. We stumbled into this place because of Chuck, but we stay for each other. Oh, and the snowboarding, hot cocoa, pretty girls, not-safe-for-work pictures, fake suicide hotlines and pink lemonade.

Oh yeah, and Lindsey Lohan's journeys with 'lil Oprah. But morey will have to explain that part. Cheers!
