Hey guys,

Many of you have been aware of the massive fan effort that's been in effect to get 'Rant' to #1 on the bestseller list. Well, with one full week come and gone, it's time we announce how we did. Here's an email I received from Gerry Howard this morning. This is Chuck's long time editor.

Number 5. We are very very pleased. Tell the troops “Thanks, guys and girls!”

So there ya have it. Thanks to all of you, we got Chuck to #5 on the NY Times Bestseller list. This is nothing to scoff at. In fact, it's a huge fucking triumph. So you should all give yourselves a big pat on the back. You've earned it.

I believe 'Haunted' was his highest, at #4.

damn... maybe I should have bought more than just two books...
The hardcover of rant was 40% off at a bookstore I went to, and his other books were 'buy two and get one free'. I couldn't resist... Now I have many extra copies of each book, which helps out since people never give his books back.
At the library, they used to have two of every book of his.. now they only have one of Haunted left, apparently the same thing happened in another library my friend worked at. People constantly steal his books.

anyway, #5 is pretty amazing.

Yeah...there is even someone on this forum who admitted to stealing Rant...so disappointing. I bought two copies as well.

Just saw the question above, about how high Chuck's books are ranked. I've only listed their top ranking, as there's sometimes movement up or down the list as publicity either ramps up or falls down.

Six of Palahniuk’s ten books have reached the New York Times Best Seller’s list, with each piece of fiction since 1999 reaching the highest echelons of the List: Choke (2001) debuted at #10, Lullaby (2002) premiered at #7, Diary (2003) at #5, Haunted (2005) topped out at #8, and his latest, Rant (2007), debuted at #5 on May 13, 2007.

I live in a college town in MI...27,000 students and the only real "bookstore" didn't even have a single copy the week of it's release...I ended up going home for a family gathering that weekend and got it. I think #5 is a very welcome suprise. I was honestly thinking it would be lower just based on the troubles I had finding it. Good for Chuck.

ps...I love the book!!!

Last I checked, #5. Let's hope it stays there. Or climbs. It's refreshing to see him up there again. I'll probably buy my copy at the airport because I'm muy impaciente.
