Next FanMail Window?
Hi, I don't want to rush anything, but i am just curious to when the next fan mail window will be opening. Im kind of new to the site. Is there a notification of the next fan mail opening?

I could be wrong, but I think Chuck loosely intends to do a fanmail window once a year, usually around Sept. Oct. or November. But in 2005, other things got in the way and he couldn't commit to it, so it didn't happen. So, look for it to be a possibility toward the end of 2007, but no guarantees. Maybe it has even become more like a 2 yr cycle now, but that could be a hasty conclusion.
The thing to appreciate is the extent of his replies when he does a month-long fanmail window. He'll answer every single letter postmarked during that month that's legibile, non-threatening/abusive/creepy, and has a legible return address on it. His answers tend to be page and a half to two page letters, plus gifts and goodies. He spends up to six months answering the truckload of mail he receives. I'm guessing that it would take 2-3 months if he was doing nothing else.
This is not to make you envy people who made the last window all that much more, it's to share for anyone reading this who might not have understood the size of the commitment and the reason this event has to be so controlled and infrequent. When Chuck does one of these things, he's commiting probably the same time and energy that produces one of his novels.

You can go ahead and write me a letter.
I'll read it and send you a teddybear and a necklace just like Chuck does.
Chuck does seem pretty excited when her sees someone wearing one of his gifts. ( I am thinking of Jase in NYC last year)

That might be a darn good guess. I can't imagine, in his shoes, wanting to commit to another cycle any sooner than 12 months after I finished answering the last batch. April, maybe?

Ha! That was an awkward moment actually. I'd been wearing it regularly for quite some time and so it wasn't something I was consciously thinking about during the Q&A. So when he thanked me for wearing it I was kinda like "whaaa? Oh. Yeah." and almost forgot my question.
