Chuck seems to be falling into that NY Times Bestsellers list trap of formulaic writing of late. The elements shift but the picture largely remains the same. I'd like to see a broader palette.

Guts was very funny when he read it out load, but it wasn't much of a story, it was basic a shock piece with humor more stand up than short fiction in my estimation. We'll see how it matches with the rest of Haunted.

I mean, I read the articles, but mostly I get them for my late nights to have fun making the pages stick together kinda thing, personally. I know there is more raunchy publications out there, but really, who wants a woman spread eagle on a page, bearing all, all boring with no hidden seduction ?

Okay, I just made all of that. Dont have a problem getting dates. Or fucks, for that matter. I mean, in LR there are many beautiful and sensuous flesh-and-bone women. I dont have any concern picking up the mags if there is an article or story that I want badly to read. There is nothing wrong with it. Why is it that Chuck always publishes in Playboy? 2 Shorts and some essays; I know there are plenty of other places that his work crops up in but why Playboy? I wonder if it's his decision or his publisher's based on some pie-charts and demographics. Maybe Playboy pay well.

According to the This Month In Chuck box (gee that thing's neat!), it's out on January 7th.

Its interesting though, lately magazines like Maxim and such are selling alot better than Playboy, maybe the general public doesn't want to see it all. I actually heard from somewhere that Playboy is trying to go a bit more 'conservative' to draw in the Maxim crowd or whatever, this could be wrong.

Personally, to some degree sexy poses and teasing type imagery is sometimes more arousing then just seeing a flat out naked chick.

Maxim and the like outsell Playboy because they are bought by simpletons of all ages. Have you seen the kind of features they have? It's like MTV, spikeTV and FOX all rolled into a magazine. Even though Playboy has full nudity, it's still a bit classier, and you gotta be 18 to buy it, which explains why it's outsold.
