Derrida the movie

Jacques Derrida is a philosopher most famous for his formulation of a theoretical analysis known as "deconstruction" (explanation on the website).
At the conference, Chuck referred to Derrida as a main influence on his writings. This is a movie about the still-living philosopher.
bite me
Derrida died in 2004.

He did indeed. But he was alive when this thread was created.
Anyways, don't you find that a bit surprising?

Derrida is virtually unreadable, and although deconstruction might plausibly have its appeal to Chuck, it baffles me that he would actually sit down and read anything as overhyped and elaborate as Derrida's work and then claim it as an influence.

I like Derrida and some of his ideas and I can definitely see where they might influence Chuck some but, yeah, the guy couldn't write for shit.
I just watched some of the clips on that site!
Holy crap that looks like a boring movie!
who the hell thought filming a philosopher's day to day life would be interesting??
Derrida is a really tough sell. You'd think Georges Bataille would be a better fit... I mean the guy wrote philosophical porn and all.

I had to bump this thread to express my dismay. Chuck reads Derrida?
