I’ve been a Cult Member for a while but I’ve never posted in any forums, but I saw this thread and decided to post about my package.
I sent my letter to Chuck the day I found out about the contest, the beginning of October I believe and I had just about given up hope for a response. Yesterday, Christmas Eve I came home from my family’s get together and found a box inside our screen door. I saw “Palahniuk” on the return label and I screamed, several times. I rushed to find something to cut the tape and almost cut my hand in the excitement. After spilling the confetti everywhere, I looked at everything and marveled at the awesomeness of this gift.
The “Chuck Box” as my friends and I so affectionately call it contained:

A personalized letter (He misspelled "Never", I liked it.)
A Pirate Coloring book
A SWITCHBLADE COMB ( the coolest EVER )
My power animal (a parrot that is fitting because I own a real parrot.)
Magic Cards
Temporary tattoo
Glow in the dark star things
A “Hello My Name is” Name tag which Chuck signed
A box of chocolates
2 boxes of Birthday candles and a “Grow your own birthday cake” (He also apologized for missing my birthday)
Ad for Clown Girl
Champagne Party Popper
A crystal
Plastic spider
Plastic egg with putty and a bouncy ball inside
Forget me not seeds and money plant seeds
Plastic Coins
Christmas crayons
Light up ring
A “Grow your own Credit card”
Glow stick on a string
2 CD’s of his readings, one says “Bedtime stories for Nicole (Last name)” and the other says “From Chuck Palahniuk
AND, lots of confetti.

So, this Christmas rocked a lot. All because Chucky P made me the happiest girl in the world.

I just got my ackage today. I'd like to thank those of you who warned of the glitter. It still made a mess, but it would be all over my living room if i hadn't been prepared. Really, I see the glitter thing as Chuck making us feel the same way about the fan mail as he does. Love it, but it's a bit of a pain in the ass.

I got pretty much the same stuff as what everyone else is listing, but I also got a Swiss Army knife.

I got mine... the CDs are great; i've never heard his voice, and was incredibly surprised by it. Totally not how i imagined it.

I also go:
a 'Grow a Best Friend' thing...that you put in water, y'know?
temporary tattoo of a Asian symbol that is indecipherable to me
a mini magnetic travely baseball game thing
a comb knife
a car air freshner
birthday candles
magic cards
an 'It's a girl!' bubble gum cigar
'Money plant' seeds
Forget-Me-Not seeds
a signed 'Hello-my-name-is' name tag
Some harmonicas
a postcardy thing for Clown Girl
a pirate colouring book
candy
my power animal (a panda^^)
some plastic coins that will make me the coolest kid at the Junior Classics League convention... (i take Latin...aurgh)
a fake spider
lots of confetti and streamers that are literally all over my house.
and the bestest: a letter from him~

If you ever go on here, Mr. Palahniuk- oh my goodness, thank you!~

Got my package today. I had actually written him a few years ago (without knowing about the whole package thing) and received probably the best surprise of my life, until today.

I won't go through the whole list because it's mostly the same stuff. I'm bummed that i missed out on the personalized necklace, but believe me, I'm not complaining.

In his letter he answered my question about blending genres in writing, and also answered my fake/joke question about what kind of cereal he eats (all bran :sgrin: )

One thing that is kind of funny is that I didn't receive a power animal--but I did receive a sandwich squeaky toy, which I guess is my power animal? Heck, it makes sense I guess...I am Italian.

Oh, I also got a gum cigar that says "it's a girl!" on it.

The two cd's look amazing and I can't wait to listen to them. Anywho, that's that.

Has anyone else not received a reply yet? I mailed mine out maybe the end of the first or beginning of the second week in Oct and my sister got a reply and she sent her's out later than me so I think now I'll stop checking the mail with anxiousness and if I do get a reply it'll surprise me :-P rather than disappoint me when I get no mail lol

It'll come, don't worry. That is, if you got the address right. Maybe he thought it was a ploy to get two boxes? Same adress........? Or maybe the publishers thought it was a hoax. He'd probably send two boxes if he had read the letters and could see two different people. He's cool like that.

I just got my box today! For the past 2 weeks I've been asking every single day if I had any mail, and every day my mom said no, and then today she didn't even mention it! I'm not going to go through everything, because it's the same as most of the stuff here. It completely made my day though!

There's only one thing I don't really know about. When I wrote my letter, I said that I had something that I would have liked to send, but I didn't know if it would have been allowed since the outline said letters only. In his reply, he told me that he'd love to see it and for me to send it, but I'm kind of worried that if I do, it'll just get thrown out...Anyone know anything about that kind of stuff?

Did he give you a new address? Or is it the one you sent a letter to?

If he gave you his home address or something, just send it to that. If not, just try sending it to the publishers.

eeeekkkk! eek eek eek! *insert me running around the house squealing like a little girl*

i just got a call from my mom and my package has arrived! (i had it sent to her since i wasn't sure if i'd still be in my same place for the next year)
i don't possibly know how he got around to mine so quickly. i couldn't decide what to write. i rewrote the letter at least 6 times... which meant that i didn't put it in the post until Oct. 28th. i had put the whole thing out of my mind knowing i wouldn't get a response for such a long time. and here it is. (or there it is i suppose) so the waiting tonight is killing me. the only way to calm it was to come here.
thanks for listening to me squeal.

i now have my box and letter!! my power animal: a tiger.
the things i received were very similar to everyone else's lists, so i won't rehash them. (the only things i received that i don't see listed here: body jewelry in the shape of a heart, a pack of "spice up your life" seeds, and a really fantastic black and white signed photograph of chuck, edward norton, brad pitt and 2 other people in front of the fight club house!)
the letter he sent me was very nice, but kind of strange (i think i upset him a little!)...
he did pose a really great question that i'll share with everyone though:
"Can you make writing feel like a vacation!??"

point taken, chuck. thanks.
i'm going to go get to my vacation now.

Hey Drinking Mercury,

That is awesome that you recieved that signed picture! I think I've seen that picture before, and if I remember right, the other two people are chuck's friends that he brought to the set. Are the other two people a Woman and a Man?

And if you don't mind me asking, I'm curious as to why you thought you upset him?

My packaged came today, the letter was dated Jan 5 so I'm super glad that it came before Friday when I have to leave for school. That's why I was so nervous about it not coming, the letter was of course terrific.

One of the questions I asked Chuck in my letter was about the Power Animals he sent last fanmail period (and even this one), mine was a Penguin and I wanted to know if the animals were chosen for a reason or if they were randomly chosen. He mentioned how certain animals are harder to find and that he "[tends] to put the very rare, very cute anmials in boxes for folks who've written exceptional letters."

I also received the signed picture infront of the fight club house
chocolates
a light up heart on a red beaded necklace
a pack of altoids chewing gum
sugar free mints
a glow stick on a string
a clown nose
the clowngirl post card
a champagne party popper
a bunch of plastic coins
some plastic stars
asian rub on tattoo
a green journal
swtich knife comb (always wanted one of these as a kid!)
trick candles
forget me not seeds
growing together seeds
spice up your life money plant seeds
a heart body jewel tattoo
a cute little halogram thing that says "you make life bearable" with a brown bear
a signed hello my name is sticker
the two story CDs (cant wait to listen to them on my bus ride back up to school)
mini christmas crayons

and of course that confetti gets stuck to everything... I wonder how his apartment looks with that stuff!
a crystal from a chandalier

um, well... he responded rher emphatically to a line i wrote... i mentioned that i "deserved a beating" for not working on this piece i have been writing for a while now and hadn't worked on in a long time. and how he was troubled by my saying so. he gave me alot of advice about trying to do something that gave me joy. i think he misread what
i had said originally (i was being light when i made the "beating" comment, but he answered it very seriously while not commenting on most of the rest of my letter). it was a little confusing.

First time posting here, but this is one thread I've got to get a piece of, cos I got my box! It arrived on 8 January, the very day I was about to head off on holiday, so I've only just got around to cataloguing it on my blog. He even sent a real knife! Feel free to pop by and check out my booty:

It was so much better than I could have ever expected, so I'm well pleased. Thanks Chuck. And thanks to CP.net for bringing my attention to the whole thing in the first place.

Considering my power "animal" was a squeaky-toy sandwich, I have been second-guessing the meaning all along. Tongue

Seriously though, did anyone else get anything other than a power "animal"? Any power tuna-wraps or gyros?

My power animal was a cow, although since it had horns I guess it was really a bull, which seems very appropriate since I told Chuck in my letter that I was heading to Spain on holiday.

hey my first time posting.. I like many others are eagerly awaiting their reply from chuck!! The thought of recieving it has kept me going through the bleak English winter. I was just wondering wether anyone else from England had recieved theirs yet? I posted mine the last week in October.. I'm sure everyone who has recieved theirs is getting bored of everyone who hasnt recieved theirs impatience! Anyway its nice to finally be posting on the forums even after being a member for years and reading everyone elses posts. Hi everyone. Greetings from Birmingham too.. The west Midlands of England. I didn't mean to have everyone question their power animals!

In the post script he said the penguin was the best, in the letter he said: "Other top animals include the otter, the squirrel and the baby seal, all because they're so difficult to find." That's all, I don't know about any other animals! They're all cute and I think it was a great inclusion - power animals Smile

Roger that.

I got mine today and I really didn't expect one.
I didn't write a terribly long letter, maybe three sentences, but that was apparently enough.
He closed the letter with "you're scaring me."
Vendetta, I guess you were right about Ten Benson-The Claw.

The box contained:
Panda Power Animal
Tinsel, lots of tinsel
temporary tattoos
laminated million dollar bill
a pirate coloring book and crayons
chocolate cigarettes from Holland
"It's a Boy!" bubblegum cigar
pop-rocks
2 cd's- Chuck's Tour Stories 1&2
a lion hologram sticker
fake poop
a severed finger
multi-tool pocket knife
'forget-me-not' and 'herb garden' seeds...and I actually garden! I'l have pics in, what, 7months?!
Valentine Asters grow kit
Signed "Hello My Name Is" sticker
magic re-lighting birthday candles
Altoids spearment gum
autographed pic of Chuck feeding what appears to be a french fry to a chicken by mouth
plastic spider
3 stencils
Valentines Day pencil
star shaped hole punch
A Plastic Carrot filled with carrot seeds! I'l plant those too, come spring
Chocolate scented stickers....

I think I got it all.
The letter is the best of all. Chuck P hisself saying "You're scaring me."
What a great guy.

Agreed. I really didn't expect anything, though I did want to take the opportunity of the fan-mail window to at least thank him for the entertainment.
Very generous indeed to actually read each letter and write a personal response, and round up the amazing boxes of joy.

I received my package today... I wrote to Chuck about maintaining an appropriate fiber intake, along with a comprehensive list of foods and their fiber content.

Here's what he sent me:
1 novelty severed finger
1 pack of Trick Cards
1 Silly Putty
1 hologram tiger picture
1 autographed photo of Chuck
1 pack of scented stickers
1 pack of heart stickers
1 valentines day pencil
1 "its a boy" bubblegum cigar (my wife is pregnant)
1 note pad (hearts)
1 pack of chocolate cigarettes from Holland
1 pack of 4 crayons
1 stuffed panda (my power animal, who also eats a lot of fiber - coincidence perhaps...)
1 pack of trick birthday candles
1 pirate coloring book
1 swiss army knife (used)
1 "my name is" sticker - signed
1 temporary tattoo
1 $1,000,000 book mark
1 pack of mints
1 star hole punch
1 strawberry planting kit (a little flower pot with strawberry seeds and dirt)
1 plastic carrot with carrot seeds inside
1 plastic spider
1 pack of herb seeds
1 pack of forget-me-not seeds
2 cd's
a bunch of confetti
and a letter

Quite a surreal package... Eat your fiber.

I honestly cannot get all of the confetti out of my home. I keep finding pieces of it all over the place.

I went off to Spain the same day my box arrived, and in our hotel room there we found bits of that glittery stuff, which must have travelled with us on my clothes or something. I've now taken all of mine and put it in an envelope and then back in the box, so at least I can have a rummage around in there without making the house even more messy than it already is!

The box was incredible. Most of the stuff I got was the same as everyone else's, although there were a few variations.

I didn't get a necklace, but I was one of the people that got a shiny red Swiss Army knife. It's SO cool. It's one of those really complicated ones, with scissors and saws and tweezers and wine cork openers. Amazing.

I also got a plastic carrot, and when you open it up there's a pack of carrot seeds inside (which is greatly amusing when you put it into the context of "Guts"...haha).

Something else I got that I haven't seen anyone else mention: a hologram card that zooms in and out of a grizzly bear and says "You make life bearable." I also got a big sticker that's uses the exact same swirly/cursive font used in the disney logo, except it says "Disappointed" instead. It looks like this:

Had a big laugh at that one.

Also...In my letter, I mentioned to Chuck that I wrote a story called "Fingernails" that was published in my college literary magazine. So he signed my tour stories cd: "Bedtime Stories for Justin "Fingernails" Jones"....which made me feel really special.

His letter was wonderful. I asked him a lot of questions about where he gets ideas for stories, and how I can find a trully original voice. His advice was perfect.

All in all, an incredible experience. This is part of why Chuck is my favorite author. The guy makes you feel like you're really part of something big. There's a sense of community. It's exciting.

Can't wait for the next window.

I was worried it would never come. It sounded too wonderful to be true.

The only thing I haven't seen already posted is the set of heart shaped measuring spoons. What a rad thing to have in your kitchen. In my head, someone, someday, is going to be in my kitchen and say "oh, these are cute, where did you get them?"

I sent mine around the 16 of October, and got it two Saturdays ago. Coincidentally, I had just finished editing and was about to post a blog about Haunted on my Myspace when the delivery dude showed up at my door with two packages. I saw the return adress on one, and thought they were both from Chuck (and the second one was huge...I was dissapointed to open it and realize it was a textbook I had ordered). I couldn't wait to pop open Chuck's. As soon as I took a peek inside, I closed it back up and got my camcorder set up to film me going through it. I'm not going to list everything, but among the items were visible carrots, and carrot seeds. I noticed that he personalized the cd's for me, with info he picked up from my letter.

Oh yeah, and my power animal is a moose.

And dude from way earlier...If you didn't remember the power animal, you can't exactly call yourself a fan.
