Chuck's reading list for Strand Books
Hey. I'm on the mailing list for Strand Books in NYC and just saw Chuck is going to give a list of books that inspired him.

How much is this list worth?
I mean - are those books hand-picked by Palahniuk? Because I can't help but notice that it contains whole bibliographies of some authors(Welsh, Coupland, Ellis, Hornby and McInerney to name few).
EDIT: Forget I asked. I got lost in all these kinds of recommendations and figured whole "recommended" section as "Chuck approved".
Apologies.
Generally speaking, our "Recommendations" section is full of stuff that the staff thinks fans of Chuck will enjoy. These come from a variety of sources, and often it is stuff that has been highly popular or discussed in the forums.
The "Chuck Approved" section is made up books that Chuck has at one point given a nod to.
We try to add to these lists as best we can to help people find new things to read.
If you have read any of the books on our lists, it helps if you can rate them!
didnt msinerney have only the one novel out at the time that list was originally populated.. ?
but, yeah. chuck's always recommending reads. read his essays and you'll find many more that arent even on the official list. there are so many great reads out there; it's just a matter of hearing about them. which is why i love when authors offer a list of reading favorites on their website.
the top of chuck's list is almost always amy hempel, jesus' son, and the contortionists' handbook. you cant go wrong starting there
