Details on 'ZOMBIES,' Chuck's Upcoming Short Story For October Playboy Magazine

It's becoming a yearly tradition to not only see a new novel drop by Chuck Palahniuk (Doomed on October 8th), but a new short story as well. Usually, these stories have two things in common: 1) Chuck will read them while on tour for his current novel. 2) Chuck will print them in Playboy Magazine.
This year's short story is called 'Zombies,' and during a recent interview with Oregon Live, Chuck had this to say about it:
"The story was originally published in Playboy, the only major glossy magazine that will risk buying my fiction. When my editor there, Amy Grace Lloyd, wanted to run it the entire staff insisted that [Hugh Hefner] approve it personally. Yes, it's risky, but Hef said it was okay."
"The new story is called "Zombies" but the title is a bit of a misdirection. It will also run in Playboy, in October, to coincide with the launch of my next novel, "Doomed." To date, it's the only story I've written that's made an audience weep instead of vomit. This past spring I read it at a sold-out event in a bar, and hundreds of the hippest, most-jaded readers could be heard sniffing back tears. Anytime my work can coax bodily fluids out of someone, I'm happy."
The issue is not out on newstands yet. But keep an eye out. And if you'd like a chance to see this story read live, I'm assuming Chuck will be reading it during his Doomed tour in October. Dates for those events here.
