After a good, long run, we have decided to close our forums in an effort to refocus attention to other sections of the site. Fortunately for you all, we're living in a time where discussion of a favorite topic now has a lot of homes. So we encourage you all to bring your ravenous love for discussion to Chuck's official Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram. And, as always, you can still post comments on all News updates. Thank you for your loyalty and passion over the years. These changes will happen June 1.

First of all, I am not too current on threads around here these days, so I apologize if a thread RE this exists, but ...

[Genius] Creator of the Sims games, Will Wright has come up with a new game idea called Spore, to release I believe ~next Xmas-ish (is that a double "ish"?)

Wikipedia wrote:
Spore is, at first glance, a 'teleological evolution' game: the player molds and guides a species across many generations, growing it from a single celled organism into a more complex animal, until the species becomes intelligent. At this point the player begins molding and guiding this species' society, progressing towards a spacefaring civilization. Spore's main innovation portends to be Wright's use of procedural generation for many of the components of the game, providing vast scope and open-endedness.

His insight into game development paradigms (if I may dare use that word) is quite interesting and it even sheds a little light on sites like THIS one (in a you must connect the dots kind of way) ...

Watch the google video where Will demo's it at GDC.

If you are game-geeky at all, you'll probably enjoy it as much as I did.
