Badass Fetish Model Masuimi Max Models Our Fight Club Shirt!
One of my favorite things about running this website, is realizing, on a continuing basis, just how many people love the writing of Chuck Palahniuk. This stretches across the board from regular everyday readers, college professors, celebrities and yes, even world renown fetish models.
Masuimi Max has been a staple in the fetish photography world for several years now. She's the punk rock Dita Von Teese. The real 'Suicide Girl'. She's done stage shows, been on dozens of magazine covers, and has even had small parts in David Lynch movies. How cool is this chick!?
Well, like most cool people, she's also a fan of Chuck Palahniuk. So when I asked if she wouldn't mind us sending her one of our new 10th Anniversary 'Fight Club' shirts, she not only gobbled up the opportunity, but also agreed to model the shirt for her website IAmTrouble.com. But Masuimi went furtherand included the following blog on her site, forum, MySpace, Facebook and Twitter: read more »

Killing People To Render Their Fat For Soap!?
Does this sound familiar? Luckily, Tyler Durden never spent any time in Peru, so we know he had nothing to do with this. All kidding aside though, this is a ghastly story. I'll let the Huffington Post take over from here:
LIMA, Peru — A gang in the remote Peruvian jungle has been killing people for their fat, police charged Thursday, draining it from their corpses and offering it on the black market for use in cosmetics. Medical experts expressed skepticism that a major market for fat might exist.
Three suspects have confessed to killing five people for their fat, said Col. Jorge Mejia, chief of Peru's anti-kidnapping police. He said the suspects, two of whom were arrested carrying bottles of liquid fat, told police it was worth $60,000 a gallon ($15,000 a liter).
Mejia said the suspects told police the fat was sold to intermediaries in Lima, the Peruvian capital. While police suspect the fat was sold to cosmetic companies in Europe, he could not confirm any sales.
Chris Gore Wears Our 'Survivor' T-Shirt On Attack Of The Show's 'DVDuesday' Segment!
Chris Gore has become our new best friend. You may remember that a couple weeks back he decided to review our Chuck Palahniuk documentary DVD "Postcards From The Future", during his 'DVDuesday' segment on G4's 'Attack of the Show.
After we posted about this, Chris then actually joined The Cult and left a comment on the news post. How awesome is this guy? To repay him for the plug, Mirka and I decided to send the dude a care package of ChuckPalahniuk.net goodies. And since Chris had mentioned that Survivor was his favorite Chuck Palahniuk book, we dropped one of our awesome Survivor Tshirts in with the package.
Well, if you watch the video below, where Chris reviews the new Fight Club Blu-ray DVD set, you'll see that he graciously decided to wear the shirt on live TV!
Much love, Chris. That's an awesome site to see. Watch the video below the break! And order yourself one of our snappy Survivor Tshirts here! read more »

It also looks at its lasting appeal and the factors that made it into such a cult hit.

Fight Club T-Shirts Are Finally Here!
For years we've been offering Tshirts on this website for all of Chuck Palahniuk's books. You have demanded them and we have delivered. But strangely, the one shirt we never made was a Fight Club shirt.
Well, that all changes today. In honor of the 10 year anniversary of the movie Fight Club, as well as the 10 year anniversary of ChuckPalahniuk.net (yes, it's been that long!), we are finally offering you the shirts you've been wanting for years! But this time we took things up a notch. We wanted this shirt to look different than the rest. We wanted it to not just feel like a 'Fight Club' movie shirt, but also channel the book. So we wanted a design that was balanced. Something hot. Something you'd wear out and not feel like too much of a fanboy. ;)
Quentin Tarantino Puts 'Fight Club' In His Top 20 Favorites Films List
Quentino Tarantino, whose new film "Inglorious Basterds" hits theatres on August 21st, has just compiled a six minute video for Sky Films in which he lists his Favorite 20 Films of the past 17 years. Why 17 years? Because 1992 is when Tarantino began directing and these are the films he admires most since then.
'Fight Club' Screening At The Hollywood Outdoor Cinema

I tend not to post about 'Fight Club' movie screenings much anymore. They happen so frequently, in every state, that it just doesn't seem that important to stay on top of. But this screening in particular, is pretty cool. 'Fight Club' will be shown at the Hollywood Outdoor Cinema on August 21st, at 7:30pm. Here are some of the events that will go with it:
- Come in your PJs for Pillow Fight Club!
- The First Rule of Fight Club is XBOX Giveaway!
- Craft Night for Tough Guys!
- Movie Lovers Support Groups!
- Prizes!
- Mobile Restaurant Row!
- Fight Club Photo Booth
- DJ Mix by megamonomnke
So if you live anywhere in the Los Angeles area, or don't mind traveling, this sounds like it could be a pretty awesome night at the movies.

'Fight Club' Referenced In Two Major TV Shows Last Night

This is becoming more and more a part of our pop culture. So I tend to not always report about it. But then again, every now and then, it's just fun to mention:
I was watching CBS tonight and there were Fight Club references in both CSI and Criminal Minds. In CSI a joke was made referencing the first rule of Fight Club. Three girls are in a diet club and a joke is made saying "the first rule of diet club is you don't talk about diet club". I thought this was pretty funny. In Criminal Minds there was a fight club that the killer belonged to. The FBI goes to this fight club while a fight is going on and breaks it up and interviews one member. This member goes on to say that at Fight Club there are no names only nick names. I thought it was really cool that 2 separates shows both had Fight Club references in them on the same night of television..Feel free to pass this info on
Props to Andy Ponti for the scoop. read more »
Suicide Girls 'Fight Club' Photo Tribute
This may be old news for some of you, but SuicideGirls.com has recently posted a photo tribute to Fight Club. I think this has something to do with the site's anniversary or something. Be careful though. The following link is NSFW. You'll see lots of sweaty, tattooed breasts. So many in fact, that I even had a hard time finding an image I could crop (above) for this news post.
Now, onto the photo tribute... and the... ahem... breasts:

Ukrainian 'Fight Club' Prank On Side Of Apartment Building

Wow. This is just awesome. It seems a group of activists in the Ukraine calling themselves the UA Resistance, invoked the spirit of Tyler Durden by lighting up the side of an apartment complex in the form of a giant smiley face. The act was done in a non-violent effort to make a statement about the corruption causing high prices on apartment flats in the country.
Here's the email I received from the UA Resistance:
We have a present for Chuck on his Birthday:-) Ukrainian TV made a short interview about it, so we think, that it will be funny and interesting to send it to Chuck's fanclub. Where we can send photo of action?) P.S. Sorry for bad grammar)) read more »
FIGHT CLUB ANTHOLOGY: Read The Introduction Here!
Something I have not done nearly enough promotion on, is the awesome new Fight Club anthology that just came out. I say it's awesome for many reasons (one of them being, that yours truly has an essay in it), but primarily because, Read Mercer Schuchardt, the guy who edited it, is someone I've known for a long time now. And he has one of the most unique and smart approaches to "Fight Club" that I have ever read.
"You Do Not Talk About Fight Club: I Am Jack's Completely Unauthorized Essay Collection" is a collection of essays on Chuck Palahniuk, the novel for 'Fight Club', and of course, the movie. It came out September 1st, and you should all order it here from Amazon. Hell, it's only $10!
To convince you all that this book is worth your hard earned money, I have partnered up with Jeff Mues at BenBella Books, the publishers, for a very exciting promotion. Basically, every month, for at least the next three months, we are going to feature a essay from the book for free download on this site. Starting today!

Real Fight Club In Union Square, NY!?
Apologies, as this news is now old. Though I didn't see too many people discussing it here on The Cult. My buddy Josh sent it my way.
It seems there was a real live fight club going on, right in the center of Union Sqaure in NYC late May.
The cops ended up stopping it, but still... this is wild.
ESPN Story On Real Fight Clubs
Here's a video story ESPN.com did on real fight clubs. It chronicles a group of Sillicone Valley workers who meet regularly to do you know what. Prepare though: This isn't what you'd immediately imagine in your head when you hear 'fight club' and think of the movie. I dare say, this looks a little ridiculous.
