well im not in the first one hundred. any ideas how i can try to meet chuck/get my book signed. i will bust a mission. im sure people have met him at signings without being a VIP
In the past, they may have. But that was because he's awesome and would stay around literally until 1 in the morning signing for everyone. He would be exhausted, the book store staff would be pissed (at least, they were at Vroman's). It's a wonder he was ever able to maintain that kind of pace. I don't blame him for slowing it down.
How do you know you are not one of the first 100? The tickets just went on sale last night?
I called the book store to ask about it and he said that one hundred people have not purchased it yet so if you have already bought your ticket you are getting a VIP pass.
yeah, i was all excited for this until i realized i didn't have the extra 35 bones to shell out. oh well. i didn't want to be told all anyways
RE: gisforgreen. That's great! Have you gotten any sort of confirmation email from them about the VIP pass? I bought my ticket at 6a.m. the day they went on sale and only today got a confirmation of my order, but still nothing about being in the first 100.
my couch changed added up... they sent the ticket via snail mail and it came with a vip letter, stating the vip signing is from like 630-8
I'm a little confused, is it the first 100 people to BUY tickets, or the first 100 people who show up and are in the LINE?
1st 100 to buy tickets.
First one hundred.
Super stoked!
Did any of you preorder your book through here
and have you received it yet?
I have not and am freaking out.
why did you preorder it? the ticket includes a signed copy of it
Turns out I didn't preorder it,
but, I got a copy for my birthday >.<
So, can I get my signed Tell-All
and then take the one I received and have it personalized?
wait so what does "backlist order" mean?
can i have him sign more than one thing? other than a book?
It's being reported as sold out. I wonder if I should still try to show up tonight.
but, I got a copy for my birthday >.<

you don't need to pre-order it. each ticket gets a copy of the book AT the reading/signing. vip just means you get to have it "personalized" and you get something else signed as well. the reg tickets include a pre-signed copy.

it means anything else that has to do with him. it could be a dvd case or whatever. judging from the emails sent out by rare bird, he will only be signing the tell-all book and one other item (for vip)
rare bird lit sent an email out yesterday that mentioned ...the event has been sold out for a while nore and it's been heartbreaking to turn people away on a daily basis for this literary extravaganza...
Ah well. I'm more excited for Damned anyway. I think he'll turn it around with that one.
The event last night was awesome! I loved the interview format because it was obvious Chuck wasn't shown the questions beforehand and he took his time to think about the answers before saying anything. I enjoyed hearing him read his short story "Knock Knock" and it will be interesting to see if anything is changed in the version that will be published in December. Chuck didn't seem to spend as much time with each fan during the signing portion, but maybe the venue was requiring him to be done by a certain time. Overall, it was a great evening and I'm already looking forward to the Damned tour.
I think the reason he didn't spend as much time with each person during the signing was not only because he had a limited amount of time, but also because he was disappointed that he didn't answer a lot of fans' questions during the actual reading. I may be wrong, but when I went to meet him, I could tell that something was bothering him when people were rushing him through the signing. Before the reading, he spent a lot of time with each person, so something definitely went down afterwards to cause that.
Did the fan's just not have a lot of questions to ask him? Or were they all just lame questions? Was it the bookstore putting a time constraint on the whole thing?
You'd think the publisher would work it out and find a book store that'd be willing to let things go on all night long if need be. Hell, you'd think any bookstore lucky enough to host an event like this would be champing at the bit to keep him there as long as possible and customers in their store.

He's too popular to have readings at the actual bookstores for the most part. The L.A. reading was held in a rented hall, the San Francisco one is as well. So the bookstores have to bring his books, pay to rent the facility, bring staff and all that. So, they don't really benefit by letting him sign all night, they just incur extra costs.
They need to get a radio station involved or something, like they do with rock bands.
He'll end up doing his signing in a stadium and after 48 hours straight of autographing, end up with a permanently withered arm!
i'm not sure where I was going with this post so I'll just stop here.
yeah, he did seem kind of unhappy or put off during the signing afterwards. he wasn't a dick or anything, but seemed really shy and reserved, in comparison to how he was onstage. either way, it was a good time despite the six $8 pints of guinness i drank
