If anyone can ask him about his fabled writer's retreat that would be great. He bought an old summer camp way outside Portland a few years back with the intent to turn it into a writer's retreat.
Also, I've been dying to know how many short stories does he have that are unpublished? And their titles? He reads a lot of them on book tours. But "Romance" was recently published by Playboy.
Let me know if anyone finds this stuff out...
Thanks...
The Fitz has confirmed via phone that there will be a signing.
Update: There is no signing at this event. Books will be pre-signed and sold at the event.
No. Unacceptable. I shelled out for a 1st/1st Fight Club I have wanted signed for a decade. There must be a way.
Will we be able to get a picture with Chuck???
I get that Chuck probably gets tired of signing books for people...but I'm so crestfallen.....
Well here are the deails. I just called the box office and they apologized for the incorrect information. Apparently it is in his contract that Chuck will only sign 100 books per event, and they expect a "crowd of thousands." Last time he was here you got a special wrist band if you bought one of the first 100 tickets, which I did this time as well in hopes the situation may be similar. Instead we're SOL. What a complete let down. I was so looking forward to getting this book autopgraphed. I will be going VERY early and standing outside hoping to score.
Mad Daego, if there was a petition somewhere, asking Palahniuk if he could pretty please with a cherry on top sign your book... I would sign it.
The petition. Not your book.
I appreciate that. I contact a friend who is a local DJ on MPR's sister station, the Current, to see if she can pull some strings with host Kerri Miller (a show I listen to religiously, dammit) and maybe get me secreted in. Otherwise I'll be huddled up in front of the Fitz about 3:30 with a book and a 1st/1st Fight Club in one of those little metal suitcases high rollers carry into casinos.
This doubly sucks because when I saw him in Chicago I walked out the event was such a mess, then last time in MPLS I ended up with one blind eye and a sinus infection with splitting headache, so my run of luck w/ Chuck is terrible.
Anyone know what the codes on our tickets stand for? Section GA1 Row GO2 Seat 147 - but this doesn't correspond with any sort of seating chart for the theater.
I thought these ticketed events were all general admission - which sort of defeats the purpose for me being one of the first to purchase my ticket. Anyone know how early to show up - I've heard on MPR the last few days during Kerri Miller's show that they should have the 1,000 seat theater sold out by tomorrow.
@ Mad Daego - I'm also bummed, was hoping to get a few things signed as well. I also have a backstock of collectible Chuck titles I was going to bring: 2 Pursuit of Happiness, 5 1996 Story magazines, 2 1997 Story Magazines, and a few other obscure titles. I was thinking of bringing them all anyway to see if any Chuck fans were missing these titles, in the hopes that he may sign something (other than pre-signing the copies of Damned).
I just checked and Ticketmaster is now selling 'GA5' general admission seating tickets - any ideas?
I have only been to one Chuck event that was run competently, and that was at the Triple Rock during the Snuff tour. The first 100 tickets sold included a wrist band for a signing line, the rest were GA, and everything was stated clearly on the website.
Well, if you think about all the Crazies that the Cult attracts (when Chuck isn't even a part of the website), and multiply that by 500 or 1,000 when people can see him live, I am surprised they go as well as they do.
I think we were the crazies.
@ Mad Daego - You know what, I think you were correct. Also, I enjoyed your 'little metal suitcases high rollers carry into casinos' for your 1st/1st to get signed - you are a man of your word.
I'm just glad in my giddiness that I was smart enough to get a pic - the guy is so sincere about his fans. I hope my question makes the radio edit - I'll need to download the audio once MPR gets it posted to their website.

I think it airs Tuesday on Midmorning? I listen to Midmorning daily and thought that was what she said yesterday. Yes, I am a man of my word. That seems to be my problem. I really enjoyed how Chuck just ducked and dodged her questions the entire time. His feet are gigantic. Obviously he has all this stuff ready to roll, which is something you notice the more you read/watch interviews, etc. But so what? He's hilarious. And I enjoy watching Miller lose. I've gotten into it with her on the radio a couple of times, yet I love her show.
