Culties, ho!
Who'll be there?
This event is actually ticketed...I went onto the Harvard Bookstore website, and they have 150 tickets that are $27 and include the "Personal signing line".
$27?!?!
Jesus fuck...
I'm honestly reconsidering whether its worth going. That's a lotta money in times such as these.
EDIT: Just checked the website. Fuck it, I'm not going. They had Five Dolla Tickets, but they're sold out. I may hang around the place that night just to see what's cracking since I'll be in the area, but I'm not spending Twenty-Seven Federal Reserve Notes.
EDIT 2: Just changed my mind. Since it comes with a copy of Pygmy, I'll take it. I don't have an interest in getting it signed though, Chuck's hand has worked enough for me.
I almost stopped in there today, because I had a question regarding this very thing (if you are getting there early to have your book signed, would there be books available at the Brattle or would you have to buy one before going to the Brattle) but then decided against stopping in because I was lazy and didnt feel like detouring en route to class...
I came home with the intent to give 'em a call, and I am glad I did! Thanks for the heads up, Nikolas! Ultimately, assuming you havent already purchased the book from Amazon or something, the $27 ticket is entirely worth it. The book is what, $25 anyway (at a bookstore that is, Amazon is probably only $17) so it works out.
I just called the bookstore now, and you can buy the tickets over the phone, and they will have the books waiting for you at the Brattle, which has doors opening at 4:15 for people with the $27 tickets...
Oh, also, it doesnt matter now since the $5 tix are sold out, but in case anyone is interested in attending future off-site events hosted by the Harvard Bookstore:
"Once you use your $5 ticket to gain entrance to the event, you can use it as a coupon for $5 off a single book or item at Harvard Book Store or a Harvard Book Store sponsored author event."
That's pretty cool of them.
Just bought my ticket. $27 to get a book and meet, plus the event? More than reasonable!
I got THE LAST $27 ticket! Or so they told me...
I'm looking for one for my friend too... either type of ticket. Serves her right for waiting. Let me know if you have an extra.
Damn. I really wanted to go to this. I forgot to check back here for further info, I had a feeling it was gonna be ticketed. I can only blame myself for being so dumb haha
Damn it, thought this was going to be free.... been waiting to see chuck back in Boston for awhile now. Guess I'll just wait for the next book tour =(
Just got back. I dont have time to post anything lengthy right now, but it was awesome. And there were lots of penguins.
He was awesome and I can't wait for him to come back around. I can't figure out how to post pics on here, but they are on flickr!

My pics coming soon.
YOU GUYS ARE NUTS !!!!!!!!!
$27.00 for a new Chuck novel and get to hear and meet the man himself? That is absolutely more than reasonable.
Wow. It's hard to believe you would even consider that being "too much".
If Chuck were coming any where near where I live, I definitely would be going. You don't know how lucky you are to have to pay only 27.00 to get to go.
I don't know, maybe you're not a rabid fan like I am, I guess.
Touche.
R
Rabid fan for sure, but paying for an experience places a relatively cheap material value on it.
I just reassure myself that the money is for the book.

Pics coming soon. Maybe later tonight. Depends on how long it takes to acquire the camera-cable form the rightful owner of said camera...
