And why not a blog?
It's 3 in the morning and I'm restless.
I'm watching Embrace of the Vampire on tv solely because there is nothing else on. And also because that Alyssa Milano has some incredible boobs.
I'd rather be reading, but I can't read lately. I've got 7 books stacked above my computer that I've started but can't get over the hump to really delve into them. They're great books too. But I can only get about a page into any of them before I get that restless feeling again and have to move on.
Even sitting on the commode, my usual Fortress of Solitude for reading, isn't getting it done anymore.
I think I have an episode of Numb3rs on the DVR. Maybe I'll watch that instead.

I get into periods where I just can't read. They bum me right the fuck out.
that scene in Embrace of the Vampire was awesome.
scene? She's topless for like half the movie.
also, I had to take them to some doctor's office yesterday and I got a whopping 30 pages in The Sea Wolf. I got home and was completely exhausted.

yeah i haven't watched the whole movie just bits.
i just finally broke out of one of those periods where everything no matter how good is unreadable. i was down to magazine articles for two months, and was lucky to be able to finish them. tried seven or eight books, gave up. felt so weird, never had that before.
alex garland's the beach finally broke it. it's good to feel like myself again.
This has happened to me twice, and the two books that broke me out of it were The Beach, and Godfather. I'm at a point now where no matter how bad something is I can still get into it.
Godfather was a wonderful book.
So far, The Beach is pretty great. Tom told me it's one of his three favorite books ever.
Another one of the ones I'm trying is this 1982, Janine. It's a great one. The guy in it is a lot like me i think. Same way of having sexual fantasies at least. Where it's going good and getting to the important parts and them BAM just a complete 180 and start contemplating philosophical ideals for a while, then WHAMMO back to the sex and on and on.
I love it, yet I can't bring myself to touch it.
There's got to be some sort of metaphor in that and with people's relationships or some shit.
In fact, I could see that probably being a theme in the book if I ever managed to finish it.
Huh. That looks like an interesting book. I'll wishlist it on bookmooch.
I was in that slump for years. Like a really long time. Rant broke me out of it a couple of months ago.
I think what it is, is I've infected myself with a kind of Internet Forum Mentality. Where I can only read short little, one or two sentence posts or spend five or six seconds watching an animated gif.
I need to work on reading all those long ass posts of Nightrious and Phil and try to knock out a couple long-winded ones of my own to break out of it.

readers block is awful, and i think you're dead on with it's source.
attention spans and imagination have basically been killed by the drive-thru mentality that's been created by the media. quick, simple, affordable. what more could we ask for?
it's only once you overcome it that you remember just how amazing novels can be.
Did you ever finish 1982 Janine?
Maybe read some kiddie pick your own adventure books by C.S. Lewis ... you know, shortish spurts of writing, about the same vocab level of internet and more interactive than most books.
I also go through lengthy periods where I can't slog through fiction, then later on I binge.
I appreciate that you can write.
i'm humbled.
i'm humbled.
...like in the old country?
Haha!
